Background and experience

After qualifying as a CA, I joined the Information Systems Audit Group of Ernst & Young, wanting to improve my computer knowledge on the eve of the IT boom.   I leveraged this experience into a career at the National Ports Authority (at that time it included the various Port Operations businesses).  This entailed implementing a 5 year information management plan encompassing various locations, low computerisation levels, various information systems, relocation of the IT department, governance processes, tender and supplier management. 

This was followed by a 4 year career in management consulting, acting as both consultant and business unit manager.  From 1999-2006 I established and ran my own businesses.   Having a wealth of experience in the IT industry, some colleagues and I set up our own Business Intelligence company.   I then started my own business, offering development services to small companies (accounting/tax) and large corporations (market intelligence).  The last venture was selling & distributing perishables.  Currently employed as CFO driving a restructuring, refinancing and refocusing process within a large format digital print company.
