Background and experience
Chris was born and grew up in Johannesburg. He attended Rand Afrikaans University (currently University of Johannesburg) where he completed a B.Com degree, which was then followed with post graduate studies in accountancy before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
Chris served his apprenticeship in Development Finance with the market leader IDC whilst doing part time lecturing at Wits University in Management Accounting. He gained extensive business experience through the ownership of a number of businesses some of which was started by him and some acquired by him through buy-outs. He has owned and operated small as well as large enterprises in the manufacturing, retail, accounting, motor, consulting, food services and banking industries both locally and in Australia.
He is an astute corporate finance dealmaker who has been instrumental in facilitating and structuring a large number of BEE deals over the last seven years prior to joining ECDC.
Chris has been instrumental in the turnaround and re-structuring of a number of businesses resulting in a large number of jobs being saved.
His passion is business and he has published a book on BEE and the raising of finance for Small to Medium size business.
