Communication from TMA-SA
Official communication
Official TMA-SA communisation is by means of postings on the TMA-SA Google Groups.
There are closed groups for members, Exco and Board.
Every posting is automatically emailed to members.
For more information, see Google Groups below.
News
TMA news and press releases can be found at news and TMA-SA Blog.
Also, see Corporate Renewal Solutions Blog for news and information.
TMA-SA will start publishing a monthly members newsletter in July 2006, and a 6-monthly association newsletter in 2006.
Discussion
Although the Google Groups allow for discussion, they do not offer the most elegant format.
For this reason, discussion forums exist at TMA-SA forums.
Worthy discussion items that may crop up in the Google Groups will be copied into the discussion forums.
Note though that discussion items cannot be automatically emailed to members as done in the Google Groups. Members, however, can set their profiles on the forum such that they wish to be alerted if there are any new posts.
How to use the TMA-SA Google Groups
TMA-SA Google Group email is preferred to normal Outlook email for group-wide mass emails.
Google Group posts and emails represent the only official communication from TMA-SA leadership.
Posts, emails, replies and attachments (agendas, minutes and other documents) are automatically stored for future access and retrieval by members.
Note: file size limit of 1MB per attachment, but virtually unlimited Group storage size.
All TMA-SA registered members are automatically members of the closed Google Group named TMA-SA Members.

Google Group features:
- To access a Google Group, in order to post message and read archived messages of other group members, a member must first open a (free) Google Account which is tied to the email address you supplied TMA-SA with when you registered. Thereafter, any number of Google Groups, as well as other Google services can be accessed.
- All 3 TMA-SA Google Groups are closed groups - only group members are able to post and view messages (not the general public).
- All posted messages will be automatically received by all other group members within the same group as email (see Tips below).
- A message can be posted either as:
- A new topic; or
- A reply to any post. Replies to posts are threaded i.e. they are attached to the original post replied to (as opposed to being a new topic).
- Any post that contains the text "X-No-Archive" in either the header or the first line of the message will be displayed on Google Groups for only seven days and will never be searchable.
- A member has the option to reply either to the author only, or post the the reply for all members to read. In the latter case, the reply is posted as as a threaded message i.e. the reply is attached to the original post replied to (as opposed to being a new topic).
Limitations
- Attachments can only be emailed into the Google Group i.e. attachments cannot be posted directly on the Google Group.
- Posts cannot be edited.
- Problems with using html links in posts.
Tips
- Try to reply to posts from within the Google Group rather than responding to an email - this will help keep posts belonging to the same topic threaded together.
- Go to Google Groups Help for assistance.
- Do not unsubscribe from a Google Group - you won't be able to access official TMA-SA communication any more, and won't receive any emails either.
- For the same reason, do not select the option not to receive email from your Google Group unless you go away on holiday, etc. Should you do this, you will have to access the Group's archives for communication instead of receiving it automatically. If the emails don't interest you, rather use your Delete button.
