To access a Google Group, in order to post message and read archived messages of other group members, a member must first open a (free) Google Account which is tied to the email address you supplied TMA-SA with when you registered. Thereafter, any number of Google Groups, as well as other Google services can be accessed.
All 3 TMA-SA Google Groups are closed groups - only group members are able to post and view messages (not the general public).
All posted messages will be automatically received by all other group members within the same group as email (see Tips below).
A message can be posted either as:
A new topic; or
A reply to any post. Replies to posts are threaded i.e. they are attached to the original post replied to (as opposed to being a new topic).
Any post that contains the text "X-No-Archive" in either the header or the first line of the message will be displayed on Google Groups for only seven days and will never be searchable.
A member has the option to reply either to the author only, or post the the reply for all members to read. In the latter case, the reply is posted as as a threaded message i.e. the reply is attached to the original post replied to (as opposed to being a new topic).
Limitations
Attachments can only be emailed into the Google Group i.e. attachments cannot be posted directly on the Google Group.
Posts cannot be edited.
Problems with using html links in posts.
Tips
Try to reply to posts from within the Google Group rather than responding to an email - this will help keep posts belonging to the same topic threaded together.
Do not unsubscribe from a Google Group - you won't be able to access official TMA-SA communication any more, and won't receive any emails either.
For the same reason, do not select the option not to receive email from your Google Group unless you go away on holiday, etc. Should you do this, you will have to access the Group's archives for communication instead of receiving it automatically. If the emails don't interest you, rather use your Delete button.
